Thursday, October 26, 2006 ![]() Ugly is the new pretty every Thursday night on ABC networks, when the gorgeous America Ferrera portrays the not-so-glamorous Betty Suarez in Ugly Betty. Betty is the assistant to the editor-in-chief of an uber-haute fashion magazine, and though she works in the industry she hasn’t got a clue about high fashion. The 1-hour show has quickly won the hearts of everyone here at Fashion Club, and for good reason. Betty is warm, endearing, and sweet. She’s also bright, ambitious, smart, and very talented. What she lacks in fashion sense she certainly makes up for in charm. More importantly, Betty teaches us that beauty does in fact come in all shapes and sizes; and more often than not, comes from within. If you haven’t already, you must check out Ugly Betty on ABC each Thursday at 8 pm. For now, have a look at our favorite Betty moments so far: *Betty shows up for her first day of work at a sophisticated fashion magazine in an authentic “Guadalajara” poncho after she sees a chic model wearing a Dolce Gabbana poncho from Milan. *Betty attends a swanky networking party and exclaims “Look! There’s free grilled cheese!” *Betty disagrees with the entire magazine when she says they should print un-retouched photos of a curvy actress. --Angel Teems - Kimmie, 2:38 PM

Tuesday, July 25, 2006 ![]() The O.C. Despite Fox cutting down the number of episodes to 16 from the standard 22, and the season premiere’s move to November 2nd, The O.C. is still a favorite for Adam Brody fans…and a few other million viewers. This season should be filled with the usual twists and turns the show’s known for. Mischa Barton may be gone, but for us, the show is always about Seth’s one-liners and Summer’s style anyway. Reno 911 911 really is a joke when it’s Reno 911. But while they’re no good at solving crimes, the incessantly baffled officers always make us laugh. The action’s almost completely adlibbed and it’s worth tuning in just to see the ill-fitting uniforms. Who likes short shorts? Officer Jim Dangle does, and it brings a smile to our faces. Season 4 airs Sunday nights at 10:30p/9:30c. The Simpsons Duh oh! Our favorite animated show is back for its historic 18th season and there’s no sign of it slowing down soon. Don’t miss The Simpsons’ new season debut on September 10th. Project Runway Season 3 Our favorite reality fashion show is back for its third season on Bravo. Last season, five of our FIDM grads got to showcase their talent and show the world their masterpieces. This season is breaking tradition by premiering July 12 at 10p/9c and will feature some differences as Macy’s replaces Banana Republic as the main sponsor. Got Comedy? We all love our TV, but sometimes we just don’t have time to sit and watch. Luckily iTunes has a solution thanks to iPod video playback. Now it’s possible to your favorite television shows and watch them anytime, anywhere. The selection of downloadable programming features everything from Dave Chappelle comedy to Lost. TV that’s portable and affordable, now that’s what we’re talking about. Television News: Futurama: Though it is not scheduled until 2008, we’re happy to hear that the animated comedy show, Futurama, has been picked back up after cancellation and new episodes are being scheduled to be shot. Comedy Central cites a large cult fan-base and strong DVD sales as reasons for the move. So, if you like a show and want to see it on the air, pick up a few seasons of it at the store. It worked for Family Guy and it’s working now for Futurama. “The WB” to become the “CW” We were all shocked to hear that The WB would bow out and give its swan song broadcast on September 17 after 11 years of programming. However, all is not lost as some of our favorite hits like Smallville will be making their way to a new network known as The CW. CBS and Warner Brothers, hence The CW, are joining forces in an attempt to reach more viewers by merging The WB and UPN. New Shows to Keep an Eye On: The Janice Dickenson Modeling Agency After opening the door to controversy on The Surreal Life, real life model Janice Dickenson’s reality show promises to be a wild ride.
